Art Vexing: Female Voices from East LA Punk
In the early '80s, the Vex was an all-ages music club located in Self Help Graphics and Art, a Chicano landmark in East LA. Although the DIY venue remained open for only a short while, it became a breeding ground for East Side punks and artists. Vexing: Female Voices from East LA Punk focuses on notable musicians and artists to emerge from the Vex's fertile, ever-evolving scene. The Claremont Museum's exhibit features photos, videos, and audio from the period, as well as paintings, installations, writings, and performance art. Highlights include works by X's Exene Cervenka, artist Diane Gamboa, and rockers Go Betty Go.
